Enterprises across industry verticals are seeking to improve agility and efficiency in their remote branch operations to deliver a higher quality customer experience and reduce cost. This requires the ability to exercise more control over the allocation and management of cloud-based applications and virtual network function workloads. To accelerate digital transformation, enterprises are seeking more granular visibility and control of the branch site network edge and Wide Area Network.  They also want to be able to scale network resources at the edge and provide better support for multiple cloud environments and container management systems, with the ability to manage resource utilization at the enterprise edge. This proof of concept demonstrates how an enterprise customer, leveraging Ciena’s Virtualized Edge Solution with Distributed Network Functional Virtualization-Infrastructure software stack provisions a virtual network function, Kubernetes cluster and an application workload into the cluster, all in real-time.
