Ciena India awarded prestigious “Smart Workplace” Award

Ciena India, one of the leading global research and development (R&D) centres for Ciena® Corporation (NASDAQ: CIEN), the network specialist, today announced that it has been awarded the prestigious Smart Workplace Award. The awards are meant to recognize the workplaces across India that are ‘smart’ - through making life easy for employees and customers, empowering employees, and increasing their ability to stay connected through use of technology.

PricewaterhouseCoopers conducted the survey and audit for the Smart Workplace Awards. Of the 550 companies from 11 major India cities that filed nominations for the award, 90 companies were shortlisted and evaluated and 20 were given the award. Primary considerations in the evaluation were infrastructure, including physical on-ground visits, and stringent analysis and process validation of employee-friendly policies and practices being followed at the workplace. Ciena India was judged a winner in the Information, Communication and Entertainment vertical, along with Microsoft R&D.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Neeraj Gulati, Managing Director and Vice President, Ciena India, said, “We are delighted to receive this honor. This recognition is a testament to the spirit and culture of innovation of people at Ciena. We are on a relentless quest to improve employee and customer experience and this award reinforces the resolve of Team Ciena to continue on this quest.”

Ciena and the other Smart Workplace winners were presented their awards at a ceremony in Mumbai on the 17th of July.
